KUTSU VUOSIKOKOUKSEEN

Sukupuolentutkimuksen seuran (SUNS) vuosikokous 2022 järjestetään torstaina 12.5.2022 klo 12:30 Zoomin välityksellä. Kokoukseen ovat lämpimästi tervetulleita kaikki seuran jäsenet!

Kokouksessa käsitellään SUNSin vuoden 2021 toimintakertomus ja tilinpäätös. Vuoden 2022 alusta SUNS on siirtynyt yhden vuosikokouksen malliin. Koska muutoksen myötä hallituksen toimikausi ei enää ole kalenterivuosi vaan keväällä pidettävien vuosikokousten välinen aika, kokouksessa vahvistetaan hallituksen kokoonpano teknisesti uudestaan. Lisäksi kokouksessa jaetaan palkinto parhaasta artikkelista Sukupuolentutkimus–Genusforskning-lehdessä vuonna 2021.

Our lives are increasingly being reshaped by multiple changes, such as increased mobilities of people and goods, digitalisation, and rapid changes in the labour market. New challenges include, for example, the cutting of public sector resources, the increased market conformity of societal systems, social polarisation, violence, climate change, biodiversity loss, and increased global and local inequalities due to the Covid-19 pandemic. These challenges require thinking differently in open, inclusive, and responsible ways. As an interdisciplinary field of research, Gender Studies and feminist research play an important role in producing knowledge about multifaceted social problems and inequalities. 

The conference seeks to produce new feminist and Indigenous thought to reimagine future solidarities and ways of knowing. The conference calls to explore how rich transdisciplinary collaboration can help feminist research matter in the effort to build more sustainable, intelligent and humane world(s) in the Arctic and beyond. In addition to alluding to the ethico-political significance of feminist research, the keyword matteringsin the conference title also refers to new materialist inspirations and the material aspects of knowledge production. In the spirit of Science and Technology Studies (STS), we wish to investigate the material aspects of epistemic practices and the complex relationship between knowledge and power. The conference also welcomes scholars who are interested in developing different ways of decolonizing feminist knowledge, including, indigenous STS studies, antiracist knowledge production, arts activism(s), ethics of knowledge, and queering knowledge and research methodologies. The location of the conference at the University of Oulu, in northern Finland, also provides a unique opportunity to approach these themes from the perspective of Arctic research. 

The keynote speakers at the conference are: 

• Professor Suvi Keskinen, The Centre for Research on Ethnic Relations and Nationalism, Swedish School of Social Science, University of Helsinki.  
• Professor Dorte Marie Søndergaard, Danish School of Education (DPU), Aarhus University, Denmark.  
• Professor Kim TallBear, Faculty of Native Studies, University of Alberta, Canada. 

The Gender Studies 2022 conference is organized and hosted by the Gender Studies at the University of Oulu. It is organized in collaboration with the Association for Gender Studies in Finland (SUNS) and the Giellagas Institute, which focuses on research on the Sámi language and culture at the University of Oulu.

Call for workshops is open 

The call for workshops on academic and activism related themes is now open. You can propose either an open workshop or a panel with a closed call. To be open to diverse ways of knowing and knowledge production, we encourage workshops to come up with creative artistic and activist formats. You can also propose a virtual session. We welcome workshops related to the key themes of the conference as well as to other topical themes in gender and feminist research. 

The academic workshops will be held in Finnish, English, Swedish or Sámi languages. But we encourage multi-lingual activist and artistic expressions in exploratory workshops (e.g. Russian, Arabic, Persian). 

Workshops will be scheduled in 90 minute slots, and we ask the prospective workshop organisers to take this into account when proposing panels/closed sessions. Please contact the organizing committee if you have any questions about the proposal process.

Tieteellisten seurain valtuuskunta tekee tutkimusta tieteellisten seurojen jäsenistöstä ja toivoisimme että käyttäisit hetken ajastasi vastataksesi kyselyyn.

Tiedämme, että Suomessa toimii lähes 300 tieteellistä seuraa, joilla on noin 260 000 jäsentä. Mutta keitä jäsenet ovat ja mitä he tieteellisissä seuroissa arvostavat? Tutkimuksen avulla pyritään löytämään vastaus tähän kysymykseen. Kyselyn toteuttaa Tieteellisten seurain valtuuskunta (TSV), joka on suomalaisten tieteellisten seurojen kattojärjestö. Tulosten avulla tieteelliset seurat voivat kehittää toimintaansa ja TSV voi kehittää seuroille tarjoamiaan palveluita. 

Vastaamalla kyselyyn annat arvokasta tietoa juuri oman tieteellisen seurasi jäsenyydestä. Jokainen vastaus on tärkeä. Kyselyyn vastaaminen kestää noin 15 minuuttia. Vastaajien kesken arvotaan TSV:n #minätutkin t-paitoja ja Tiedekirjan kirjapaketteja.

Kyselylomake on avoinna kaikille tieteellisten seurojen jäsenille sekä suomessa toimiville tutkijoille. Kyselylomake on saatavilla suomen- ja englanninkielisenä, mutta avovastauksiin voi halutessaan jättää vastauksia myös muilla kielillä. Kysely on auki 15.3.2022 saakka.

Kyselyn tulokset julkaistaan TSV:n verkkojulkaisusarjassa ilmestyvässä raportissa keväällä 2022. Vastaukset käsitellään anonyymisti. Tutkimuksen jälkeen aineisto arkistoidaan Tietoarkistoon.

Invitation: Survey about the membership of learned societies and of the readership of scholarly journals 

Dear member,

The Federation for Finnish Learned Societies is studying the membership of learned societies and we ask you to spend a few minutes to take part in this survey.

In Finland, there are more than 300 learned societies with approximately 260 000 members. The question is who are the members and why they want to hold their membership? The aim of this study is to find an answer to this question. The survey is conducted by the Federation of Finnish Learned Societies which is a co-operative body for learned societies in Finland. Learned societies can use the results from this survey to develop their activities and the Federation may develop its services for the societies.

By taking part in this survey, you will give valuable information about the membership of your society. Every answer is important. It takes about 15 minutes to fill the survey. Respondents can participate in a draw of #minätutkin t-shirts and books from Tiedekirja.  

The questionnaire is open to all members of learned societies and those working as researchers in Finland. The questionnaire is available in Finnish and English and it is possible to leave comments on open questions with any language. The survey is open until the 15th of March 2022. 

Survey data will be analysed and published in a way that one respondent cannot be identified. Results will be published in a research report that will be published in a publication series of the Federation of Finnish Learned Societies. Anonymized data will be archived to the Finnish social science data archive for further research use.

Oulun yliopiston Sukupuolentutkimus järjestää Sukupuolentutkimuksen päivät 30.11.-2.12.2022. Konferenssin teema, Feminist matterings: Indigenous and Arctic engagements, viittaa uusmaterialistisiin inspiraatioihin, feministisen tiedontuotannon ja aktivismin eettispoliittisiin sitoumuksiin sekä tiedon ja tietämisen materiaalisiin merkityksellistymisiin. Globaalit planetaariset kriisit, kuten ilmastonmuutos ja biodiversiteetin köyhtyminen, pakkomuutto, eriarvoistuminen, moniperustainen syrjintä ja väkivalta, digitalisaatio ja dataistuminen sekä arkemme uudenlaiset tilat ovat kysymyksiä, joihin tarttuminen edellyttää avointa, inklusiivista, vastuullista ja uteliasta toisinajattelua.

Vuoden 2022 sukupuolentutkimuksen päivien teema kutsuu pohtimaan mahdollisuuksia, kuinka vastata näihin aikamme moninaisiin haasteisiin. Samalla konferenssi kutsuu osallistumaan teoreettisiin, metodologisiin ja temaattisiin keskusteluihin tieteen, tieteellisen tiedon ja tutkimuksen rooleista eri teorioista ja keskusteluista ammentaen ja toivottaa tervetulleeksi feministisen ja sukupuolentutkimuksen moninaiset teemat ja kysymyksenasettelut. Oulun yliopiston pohjoinen sijainti antaa erityisen mahdollisuuden tarkastella teemoja alkuperäiskansojen ja arktisten alueiden tutkimuksen näkökulmista.

Kansainvälisen hybridimuotoisena järjestettävän konferenssin kolme pääpuhujaa ovat:

– Etnisten suhteiden tutkimuksen professori Suvi Keskinen, Helsingin yliopisto.
– Kasvatuspsykologian tutkimuksen professori Dorte Marie Søndergaard, Århusin yliopisto, Tanska.
– Alkuperäiskansojen tutkimuksen professori Kim TallBear, Albertan yliopisto, Kanada.

Kutsu työryhmille ja esityksille avataan kevään 2022 aikana. Oulun yliopiston sukupuolentutkimus tiedottaa aktiivisesti aikatauluista Twitterissä (@GenderOulu), Facebookissa ja Instagramissa (@GenderStudiesOulu).
